Last week I checked one of those “what’s my IP” pages and realized how much basic info a website can see before I even click anything. I’m not doing anything unusual online, but I don’t love the idea of every site knowing my real location and provider. Do you bother hiding your actual IP address, or is that overthinking it?

Yeah, I get what you mean. I started paying attention to it after I kept seeing ads that felt way too connected to places I had visited online. Hiding your IP won’t magically make you invisible, but it does add a useful layer, especially if you browse on different networks or travel a lot. I use a vpn service mostly for privacy and to keep my connection a bit more separated from my home internet provider. I’d also suggest clearing cookies sometimes, using private DNS if available, and not relying on just one tool for everything.

Privacy online is usually more about small habits than one big fix. Checking app permissions, keeping browsers updated, avoiding suspicious links, and using separate accounts for different purposes can make everyday browsing feel a lot cleaner.
