I’m planning an epic motorcycle road trip across Europe this summer and need advice on finding the best mens leather jacket that balances protection, style, and versatility. This isn’t just about looking good – I need something that can handle long riding days while still working for dinners and exploring cities.
The trip is six weeks through various climates, from Scottish highlands to Mediterranean coast. I need a jacket that’s protective enough for highway riding but not so bulky that I look ridiculous walking around historic city centers. I’m also trying to pack light, so this needs to be my one jacket for the entire trip.
I’ve been researching armor options, but I’m not sure if I need full protection or if lighter armor inserts would suffice for touring rather than aggressive riding. I’m also wondering about ventilation features since I’ll be riding in potentially hot weather in southern Europe.
Budget isn’t my primary concern – I’d rather spend more for something that keeps me safe and comfortable. I’m thinking $1200-2000 range. I’m 5’11” with a lean build and typically wear medium in most brands. Has anyone done similar travels? What features ended up being most important? Any specific brands that excel at making jackets for touring riders who also want to look good off the bike?
